Dear friends in Christ,

Great effort has, and continues, to be expended by members of our congregation to ensure that our services streamed online are welcoming, and easy on the eyes and ears. We have not yet reached the high standard of streaming to which we aspire. We have upgraded all sorts of equipment over the last year. We continue to make improvements and are headed in the right direction.

One thing has become glaringly obvious (pun intended). Due to the reflection of light off the white walls behind the altar, pulpit, and the rest of the wall facing the cameras at the back of the Nave, the cameras have difficulty focusing. This creates difficulties for the viewers. After researching how to correct the problem, the Vestry has voted to paint the walls at the front of the worship space a color that works well when streaming. The color chosen was Advent (Marian) blue. Paint was mixed to match a blue Advent stole from the Vesting Room.

I know that this will be a big change and it may take some time to get used to the new look. Rest assured that I have been in the Sanctuary holding up a painted foam board to see how it will look. It is a lovely liturgical blue that picks up the blue in the rose window over the altar, and the gold candlesticks look wonderful backed by the new color. I will bring the stole to the services on Sunday to show you what is coming.

Here is an image of a stole that is similar.

I ask that you meet this change with open minds and open hearts.

Yours in Christ,

Mother Catherine+
