What to expect

Here are some answers to common questions.

We have two Sunday worship services, one at 8:30 am and another at 10:30 am. Members and friends begin arriving as early as 20 minutes beforehand. If you happen to arrive  late, please don't hesitate to come in at any time through any of the doors into the sanctuary. We are glad to see you whenever you get here!

Our main entrance is located on the south side of the building facing the parking lot.  Come in the front door.  An usher will greet you and hand you a small booklet called a "bulletin". Everything you need to follow for our service is in the bulletin. It includes the scripture readings, hymns, and announcements.

Sit where you wish in the sanctuary, as there are no "bad seats" in God's house. Restrooms are located in the far corner of our main building.

Persons with limited mobility are invited to park in the handicapped parking in front of the entrance to the building.

We are a liturgical church, which means our worship together is based on the Book of Common Prayer  employing the liturgies and rituals of our Episcopalian heritage. We seek through our liturgies, music and community to provide a worshipful experience that fills hearts with the love of Christ, enriches minds and inspires us for Christian service.

Wear what makes you comfortable.   Some people have a "Sunday best" that gives them joy, and some prefer jeans and a tee shirt.

You may see people dipping their finger in the Baptismal font and crossing themself as they enter. They may bow and cross themselves during the service.

Many will stand during some parts of the service and sit or kneel during others. Others will stay seated during the entire service. The bulletin will give you guidance but participate as you are able and comfortable.

None of this is required, whether you do it or not, you are not wrong.

All people are welcome to come to the altar rail. Baptized Christians may receive communion, others a blessing.

If you wish to come forward for communion, simply follow the person in front of you. You may receive bread only, or bread and wine. Let the priest know if you would like a gluten free option.

You can also come forward for a blessing by crossing your hands over your chest. Or stay in your seat during communion. Whatever makes you comfortable.

Children are welcome at all services. The Nursery is available for infants to kindergarten from 9:30 am to 11:45 am

We understand that visiting a new church can feel overwhelming, but be assured we are here to help you If you have questions, comments, or concerns feel free to talk with any usher.  A lay member of our leadership team is also available on Sunday mornings to chat with you.  Rev. Catherine Cox, our Rector, very much wants to meet you either before or after the service.  Feel free to call her at 281-852-1990 or send her an email at ctkhumble@gmail.com.
