The Rev. David Nelson was called as Rector of Christ the King in 2011. Fr. David
loves writing, reading and discussing theology books, playing disc golf, and is a long-
suffering Houston sports fan. His wife, Beth Anne, is a Curate at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal
Church in Houston. They are blessed with two wonderful daughters: Grace and Faith.
David grew up in Sugar Land, TX. In college he played baseball and graduated from
St. Mary’s University (San Antonio), followed by Virginia Theological Seminary in 2005.
Next, he served in campus ministry at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State
University until early 2011. He is the author of a new book, Why I Would Have Killed Jesus,
and You Might Have, Too: Five Short Stories of Faith, which imagines the gospels from the
eyes of the enemies of Jesus. He is also Chair of Have Shears Will Travel, a charity
that gives thousands of haircuts to the needy in the Houston area.
Edie McDaniel has been the Parish Secretary of Christ the King since 2007. She takes care of the daily office needs and supplies the weekly Sunday bulletin.
